I've lost/laundered my membership card. What should I do?

If you have lost your membership card, either E-mail Membership@BoonshoftMuseum.orgor call at 937-275-7431 ext. 152 to request a new card(s). Because we have moved from paper cards to reuseable PVC cards in an effort to be more "Green", we will now be charging $5.00/replacement card due to the increase in materials and postage.

Will I be receiving a new PVC card every year when I renew my Membership?

Because the Dayton Society of Natural History strives to be good stewards of the environment, being "Green" certified is something we take very seriously. We are inviting our Members to help us save some trees with NEW PVC Membership cards! Not only are these cards more durable than paper, our Members will be able to reuse them from year to year. Much like your car registration, a new sticker will be sent to you once you renew your Membership and you can simply place it on your existing card. Thank you for helping us reduce and reuse by making this change, we certainly appreciate it!

How long does it take to get a permanent membership card?

We strive to mail out all permanent membership cards within 10-15 business days, but due to higher volumes at different peak times, it can take longer. While you are waiting, simply use your temporary card or the E-mail confirmation from your on-line purchase. As always, you must show your membership confirmation/card and proper photo ID for admission.

Can I loan my Membership to a friend or other family member?

Membership is limited to the two adults named on the card, and up to 6 of their children/grandchildren under 18 (depending on the Membership level). Other individuals would not be able to use the Membership. Non-transferable, Membership cards may only be used by the adults listed on the card and with valid photo ID. However, if you have another familial adult that frequently brings your children/grandchildren to the Boonshoft Museum, SunWatch, Fort Ancient, and Boonshoft Springfield, you may "add on" their name for an additional $30/person. A maximum of two "add-ons" are permitted per Membership (Family Level and above). 

Does the Museum provide a Military Discount on Memberships?

The Dayton Society of Natural History values the brave men and women who serve our country, so individuals who are active military enjoy $10 off any Museum membership with current military ID. Military discount is offered when you purchase a Museum Membership at any of our DSNH sites.  *Note: Military discounts must be purchased in person, and proper ID presented. In order to prevent fraud, and in accordance with federal law, military IDs may not be copied and submitted via Fax or email.

How long does a Membership last?

Memberships are good for one full year from date of purchase; they are non-transferable and non-refundable.

What is the 90 mile rule?

We observe the "90 mile rule" as it relates to ASTC and AZA reciprocity. To receive free or reduced admission at DSNH sites based on membership in another accredited zoo, aquarium or science center, you must live outside a 90 mile radius from the Boonshoft Museum (or the DSNH site you are visiting).  Reciprocity agreements are always enforced as the discretion of the participating museum, and we strongly encourage our members to call to confirm reciprocity prior to visiting other attractions as they travel.
